The governor of Indiana has issued a "stay-at-home" order for the entire state. You can read the news report and watch the announcement here.
As Americans, we have entrusted our elected officials to take care of us during a time like this. More importantly, as Christians, we listen to the wisdom of our governing officials, because we believe they've been given to us by God (Romans 13). Now is the time to practice what we say we believe. It's easy to believe what Paul says in this passage when it doesn't require anything from us. But what about now?
We urge you to stay at home for all non-essential business.
As a reminder, we have a desire to listen to our elected officials, not to mention that we want to do everything we can to flatten the curve. So, we will not be having our gathered services until 04/11/20.
In the meantime, we will be having our home worship on Facebook Live on Sundays @ 9:30 and our Bible study will follow at 10:30. If you haven't already, sign up for those Bible studies here.
Today, the Allen County Health Commissioner stated that she is prohibiting church gatherings with more than a total of 10 people, including those held in non-church venues, in order to slow the spread of COVID-19. You can find the report here.
That means that Mount Calvary will not be gathering until at least April 12. As news develops, things continue to change. So, it is important to keep in mind that this is probably just the first of these types of announcements. Expect more.
As we live in this coronavirus age, we may not be the gathered church, but that does not mean we are not still church. We are the ungathered church. Sometimes that means we get to connect online. Sometimes that means we get to connect on the phone or text. Sometimes it means we get to connect through email or post mail.
No matter what, we are the Church. Church is not something we go to. It is something we are. Be the Church!
Jesus loves you. We love you.
